Unesco/Unitwin - Unu/Ili Chair Of Leadership Studies
The Chair established in 1997 aims to promote an integrated system of research, training, information and documentation activities in the field of leadership studies; to facilitate sub-regional and regional collaboration between high-level internationally recognized researchers and teachers, and the research and teaching staff of the ILI; to initiate research and help provide seminar activities on leadership, on issues of sustainable democracy, sustainable development, and peaceful resolution of disputes.
Dr Sami Abdullah Khasawnih was appointed to the UNESCO–UNU/ILI Leadership Chair for 2005. Dr Khasawnih is a distinguished Jordanian scholar who has held among other positions: Vice President for Academic Affairs, University of Jordan and Dean and Vice-Dean, Faculty of Educational Sciences, University of Jordan. Dr. Khasawnih holds MA and PhD degrees from the State University, New York, USA.
During his tenure Dr Khasawnih is engaged in the following set of activities at UNU-ILI:
· Provide a framework and curriculum for a Master of Arts Studies in Leadership Development to be offered in association with the University of Jordan
· Complete a protocol with Dr Jairam Reddy, Director of UNU-ILI for the research project: An Investigation of the Governance, Leadership and Management of Jordanian Universities
· Lecture and participate in the Leadership and Management for Higher Education course
· Interact with Programme Officers to provide them with guidance and support in the offering of leadership courses and in their research work |
